  • We came here when it started to rain, and it was a good afternoon activity. The museum is easy to navigate, is in a great building and has a lot of great displays for people unfamiliar with the histor...  more »
  • The museum showcases items related to the distant and modern history of Finland. The staff speak good English and enough information is provided about the items. My favourite part was the pavilion in ...  more »
  • The Museum is well planned: there is a static exhibit, and there is a modern interactive "corners". Children 5 and 8 years was interesting, given that they do not know Finnish, and English at the primary level. People are not very much.

  • Excellent museum! They have done a good job with the displays and the history. I felt enlightened both by the Finnish history and the historic facts in general. I had just under two hours here, and that was a bit short. I highly recommend this museum.
  • Excellent museum to learn about Finnish history. I loved the displays. For researches. I recommend their archive for doing research on national folk costumes. The archivists were friendly and helpful.
  • Some very interesting exhibits, particularly the one on the waterlogged mass grave of women and children (basement). Some cool interactive elements, possibly more for children than adults. A fairly solid museum, but lacking exhibit cohesion and thematic arrangements. Kind of "a little of this, a little of that" throughout.
  • A spectacular and content-rich museum, well-worth the time and inexpensive entrance fee. In the basement is a profoundly Nordic take on the prehistory of the Finnish and Scandinavian region. It uses impressive technologies in innovative ways to illustrate Finland’s place in the larger context of global prehistory. The following floor exhibits medieval times in Finland, along with the rise of Christianity and the Russian/Swedish monarchies. The top floor takes an honest, yet optimistic look at modern history and Finland’s contributions to modern society.
  • Very good interactive exposition, a perfect combination of the new technologies along the different parts. This year there is an especial exhibition for the 100 years of Finland. Every friday from 16-18 entry it's free. In winter perfect excuse for going out without freezing!
