#4 of 22 in Museums in Tampere
At Lenin Museum, one of the rare permanent museums dedicated to this Russian politician and revolutionary, you'll see exhibits about his work, his life, and the USSR. The museum focuses on critically formed archives and personal effects, such as school reports and Lenin's couch. Two compact exhibit rooms feature manuscripts and photographs providing a glimpse into Finland and Russia of the 20th century. After a self-guided tour, check out the shop that offers various souvenirs, ranging from postcards to Lenin busts. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Tampere trip simple and quick.

  • People who grew up in the US, as I did, were seldom given a balanced history of Lenin. Finland, and especially Tampere, have a more balanced view of his role. He's a very important figure in Finland's...  more »

  • "The renewed Lenin-Museum". That's just an oxymoron. Well, it's pretty neat was the renovated exhibition. Gone were the dust tuoksuiset the glass display cases, holding information about the recent history and neukkuarjesta. The role of Lenin's edesottamukset time on a much smaller now. Well, Yes, in that it's worth a visit, at least as a matter of urgency. Somehow an integral part of Tampere, in many ways.

  • This museum was definitely the highlight of my visit to Finland. We went on a day trip to Tampere from Helsinki just to experience this and we were not disappointed. We were offered a thorough introduction to the relationship between the ussr and Finland through historical objects and documents. The gift shop was very cool as well, definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
  • The Lenin museum was a hit with our party! We happened to show up just as the Finnish guide was starting his tour. The guide was very informative and thorough, we enjoyed his account on the museum and history very much. The museum is small but very nicely put up and filled with memorabilia of the Soviet Union. One of my top picks for Tampere!
  • I thought I should see something in Tampere, and this place was at the top of the suggestions. I followed google maps and could not find the museum at the location. I walked around to ask people, and everyone said it is somewhere nearby. At last, I realized that you had to go inside a closed door building to find the museum with no visible signs outside. It is on the second or 2 and a half floor of the building. It's a small room with few pictures and old memorabilia. The cost to get in is 8 Euros. There is a photo place where you can get a picture with statues of lenin and stalin on a motorbyk. From the details it has a great historical significance. There are few screens which you are supposed to read to get more information. But the amount of information is unprecedented. You need at least a couple of hours to go through the whole literature.
  • The Lenin museum is fun to visit if you don't have anything to do for an hour or so. The place offers some insight in the relations between Finland and the USSR mostly in the time when Lenin was active. Don't expect to be here for hours though. It is just one floor.
  • Lovely little museum, well curated.
