An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Wed): make a trip to Lordi's Square, get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, take an exotic tour of a safari tour, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally get in on the family fun at Santa Claus Village.

Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Thu): take in panoramic vistas at Pyynikki Park and Observation Tower and then kick back and relax at Suolijarvi Beach. On the 4th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: look and learn at Sarkanniemi Theme Park.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Rovaniemi to Tampere in 4.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. When traveling from Rovaniemi in May, plan for somewhat warmer days in Tampere, with highs around 17°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a train to Turku.

Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
On the 5th (Sat), deepen your understanding at Turku Cathedral, admire the masterpieces at Ett Hem Museum, then steep yourself in history at Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova, and finally explore the historical opulence of Turku Castle. On your second day here, trek along The Archipelago Trail, kick back and relax at Ispoinen Beach and Sauna, then learn more about the world around you at Turku Biological Museum, then examine the collection at Luostarinmaki Handicrafts Museum, and finally browse the collection at Turku City Library.

Traveling by train from Tampere to Turku takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In May, plan for daily highs up to 17°C, and evening lows to 5°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Mon) so you can go by car to Helsinki.

Get a sense of the local culture at Fortress of Suomenlinna and Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum. Pack the 10th (Thu) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park.
