Toivolan Vanha Piha on täynnä Toivoa ja Muistoa - 1800-luvun lopun käsityöläisten ja kauppiaiden elämää pienessä puutalokaupungissa.

Toivolan Vanha Piha on aikamatka 1800-luvun lopun Jyväskylään .

-Toivolan Vanha Piha -Toivola Old Courtyard in the heart of the city was opened to the public in September 2012. At Toivolan Vanha Piha nineteenth century tales and tradition meet the present day. Buildings dating from the era of smith Herman Toivola and the Museum of Central Finland’s craftsmen’s homes – the Coppersmith’s House and Carpenter’s House – with their associated activities have brought this wooden courtyard into fresh blossom. In the spirit of Herman Toivola – dubbed an industrialist even by some – once again a variety of items are being produced for the enjoyment of both townspeople and visitors. In the maternity hospital and Toivola’s own house visitors can watch craftsmen at work and buy their products. A pleasant café, Muisto, will be opened at a later date. A smith’s workshop also operates in the courtyard. At the site the Museum of Central Finland offers advice on renovation, study visits and much more. • From Toivola Old Courtyard you can find artisan’s boutiques and workshops, Toivola Restaurant, and craftsmen’s homes. The Coppersmith’s House and the Carpenter’s House are the oldest remaining...  more »
  • I think the best things about this place are that it has rustic character in town, some age to the buildings, and in the summer there is open access between the inside and the outside at the back...  more »
  • Crafts museum and shop. Exhibits give a decent view of how cobblers and coppersmiths lived 170 years ago. Service personnel dressed in traditonal linen and cotton garments and head dresses. The café has a positively rustic and quaint ambiance. Not in a cobweb dusty way. They sell specialty coffees, cheese and normal cakes, pastries and handmade candy etc. Customer service has been great so far. Two shops sell everything connected to old ways and tools in knitting and other such crafts. They are spot on to create a wholesome setting. To top it all off there is an actual apprenticed blacksmith who makes wrought iron roses, rings, blades, metallic jewelry, nails, door handles, inside decor items and all kinds of metalcrafts produce. I ordered a wrought iron ring, which was rather inexpensive. Thoroughly great experience and a positive beautiful milieu.
  • Nice cafe and some Finnish shops, great stop if you're nearby but I wouldn't make an effort to get there.
