  • Still relatively recently-until the end of the 19th century-Loviisa was one of the most important ports in Finland. Fishing boats with catches were approaching this place. The fish had to be salted as quickly as possible to prevent spoilage. On the shore there are preserved wooden houses, painted in the traditional for Finland ochre-red color-former salt barns. In these barns are now located souvenir shops, cafes, small museum of navigation. A small fishing vessel, delivered on a pedestal, reminds of the past. There is also a small lighthouse, now not operating, but carefully maintained. During the season berth Loviisa is used for parking yachts. It departs from the excursion ships to the fortress of Svartholm, located on the island at the entrance to the bay.

  • After the noisy of St. Petersburg, quiet Lovysa was very helpful. Such serenity reigns in it. All very clean, a lot of living, silence, only meet a few people on the way (and then, walking dogs)
