Amethyst Mine Lapland, Luosto

3.9
Find a gemstone in an active mine at Amethyst Mine Lapland. A deposit of broken rocks at the top of the hill form the hunting grounds for your own piece of the purple amethyst gemstone. Purchase tickets at the Lampivaara Cafe prior to your arrival, and if there's time you can order a hot drink here. The attraction is open in all weather conditions throughout the year; however, the entrance fee is higher in the winter to cover the cost of transport, which involves a large snowplow pulling a train carriage to the mining site. If you don't have any luck treasure hunting, stop by the shop that sells gemstones from the mine, located near the Lapland Hotel outside the attraction's entrance. • It was a nice day to dig ametisteja. Guide to good. Huonojalkaiselle stairs may set a challenge.

  • Amethyst Mine where you own the opportunity to some of these purple/violet quartz stones. You get a houweeltje in hands after which you can freely search for this mineral. You can take one part with a maximum size of a squinted fist. All the rest you should leave behind. The (then) present Guide was a big, bearded Frenchman with a fun accent. You have there with children and like yourself what are interested in minerals a fun afternoon.

  • Great place, I recommend there. Voimaannuttava experience kuopsuttaa the country and find the ametisteja and other minerals. The time went quickly. Saatoipa hit a small aetisti fever.

  • Great visit An excellent talk by a knowledgeable and informative guide made the walk in on quite a miserable day well worth it (our visit was in early June). My wife particularly enjoyed searching for her own Amethyst which you are allowed to keep. An added bonus is the lovely cafe which served very tasty coffee and doughnuts!
  • You are initially given a short history of the mine. Then are ushered into an area with lots of stone and you have 15 to 20mins (it is timed), to start digging for amethyst crystals. It is very hard to find one and you are not allowed to take anything that does not fit inside your clenched fist. If you want, you will have to pay for it, which is 'negotiable'. They will also try to sell you shareholder certificates of the mine, where you will be entitled to free visits to the mine and are able to dig more amethyst crystals? can't really remember. The hilltop views are nice though. But in my opinion it is not worth it.
  • Love the snow here, was so thick and extremely cold. Enjoy the experience and you can the chance to dig your own amethyst.
  • Staff puts amethys stones in to the mine for turists to find BUT THEY ARE FAR TOO SMALL! So I think it is not worth for quite expencive entrance fee!
  • Found few nice gemstones. Its real treasure hunt.
