  • Gorgeous Unesco destination, located in a scenic location by the lake in the middle of meadows. The church and its surroundings had to be explored and photographed in peace, as there were only a few other visitors. The place is easily accessible either by car or by bus. There was a summer café in the vicinity of the church where the coffees were enjoying an authentic country setting. Definitely a top attraction in Jyväskylä region, where you should come further.

  • The old church of Petäjävesi is a fine sample of its early wood construction with many details. A particularly atmospheric church was established as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994 and has thus experienced an increase in interest towards it. In the summer, concerts are held in the church for which it is very suitable. The church was built in 1763-1764 and was built by Jaakko Klemetinpoika Leppänen.

  • Such an amazing piece of history! Built in only 35 days, but is remains strong 250 years later.
  • Great, very old wooden church. Worth a visit to the country side to see.
