Yyteri Beach, Pori

4.6
#1 of 23 in Beaches in Finland
Yyteri is a district and a beach in the city of Pori, Finland. It is located about 17km from the centre, bordering the Baltic sea. Yyteri is not an urban district, instead it is mostly like a holiday resort.
Yyteri is famous for its beach, which stretches for about six kilometres. It is very popular among both local people and people from elsewhere in Finland. The beach is one of the longest in Finland and all of Nordic countries, and has also many distinctive dunes. The dune area is unique in Europe because of its size.
There is a unisex nudist area in the centre of the beach, which is few hundred metres wide, one of only two in the entire country in Finland. In 1965 Rolling Stones played their first ever Finnish concert in Yyteri.
As well as the beach, Yyteri also has a spa, hotels and a restaurant. An 18-hole golf course is located in the Yyteri area and there are also many other outdoor activities including surfing, beach volley, riding and over 30km of hiking routes.
Bus routes operate daily between Yyteri and the centre of Pori.

  • As a base line, the yyteri landscape is quite plain and regular, but my friends in the village have been flabbergasted about how fine the beach is in Pori. The beach is child-friendly in that the hand base can go on forever before the water deepens. It is nice to have some fine sand and look for the residue of shellfish, but on the other hand the fine sand can be found between the toes for another half year later. In addition, the beach always has a cold wind. In Yytar I recommend to try out the sundown or windsurf, which are very nice species and are good for learning in shallow, flueless water. It is also suitable for children under school age who have access to the same board as an adult. If you prefer waves of sea and rock climbing, I recommend to go to Kalloon. Here, I prefer to visit the sea and the summer picnic.

  • Finland's most magnificent beach!! The beach a few kilometers long and fine sand, also a beach base. The beach is shallow really far so also suitable for children.
