#1 of 11 in Parks in Southern Savonia
Linnansaari National Park is a national park in the Southern Savonia and Northern Savonia regions of Finland. It lies in the middle of the lake Haukivesi, a part of greater Saimaa. The National Park was established to conserve the valuable natural features of the Finnish lakeland.
On the main island there's an old croft. Slash-and-burn agriculture is still practised on its fields to conserve the old cultural landscape and the associated plant and animal species. A large part of the island is natural-state coniferous forest, with some herb-rich parts.
The critically endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal inhabits the park.

  • Beautiful park, with the ability to shoot between the Islands with a canoe (try) or by boat. Excellent in customer service of Oravi, from where you can organize your visit.

  • Very nice island. Lots of greenery and plants we have not previously had seen. We walked the 7 km circular walk that is recommended, but found this moderately marked. You come there with the purchased ticket at the café on the island, the signs along the trails and the marking there is clearly out, but really was not. 1 or 2 times wrong. After 3 hours through a lot with few short breaks we have the farm on the island. Then bit back to the jetty and on the Jetty sunshine waited for the boat back. Return costs 19 euro from Oravi.. We had bought this online in advance. With a fast boat is fifteen minutes. I found it somewhat pricey. It is also possible to take a boat taxi, which are, of course, a bit more expensive. The island with viewpoint itself is gorgeous. Back in the port of Oravi we have eaten in the restaurant. Not expensive and here was the quality. Made me very reminiscent of fast foods.

  • A very nice natural park where you can go hiking through a few different paths of different length. There is also an old house, stable and sauna from a farm preserved in its original state from a few decades ago when the last owners left. You can reach the park with your boat, with a canoe or kayak (you can eventually rent one in Oravi) or with the ferry from Oravi. You can also sleep there with your tent or just use the camp fire to prepare your own food for a special picnic. There is also a small bar, just in case. ;)
  • Just perfect place for any water activity! Beautiful views and great hiking infrastructure.
