Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Temppeliaukion Church are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step off the beaten path and head to Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and The National Museum of Finland. Step out of Helsinki with an excursion to Cathedral of Porvoo in Porvoo--about 48 minutes away. There's much more to do: admire the masterpieces at Kansallisgalleria, get to know the fascinating history of The Esplanadi Park, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Johannes Church, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Helsinki Cathedral.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Turku Castle and Forum Marinum Maritime Centre. Let the collections at Luostarinmaen Kasityolaismuseo and Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova capture your imagination. Take a break from Turku with a short trip to Old Rauma in Rauma, about 1h 25 min away.
