An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Thu): see exotic creatures in open habitats at a safari tour, examine the collection at Christmas House Santa, and then don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Santa's House of Snowmobiles, enjoy some diversion at Santa Claus Office, explore the fascinating underground world of Syvasenvaara Fell, then take an in-depth tour of Arktikum, and finally stop by Your Piece Of Finland.

Getting from Rovaniemi to Tampere by combination of flight and train takes about 5 hours. Other options: do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. When traveling from Rovaniemi in March, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Tampere: temperatures range from 3°C by day to -7°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sun) so you can go by car to Helsinki.
