Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Pack the 21st (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Temppeliaukio Church, admire the striking features of Helsinki Central Railway Station, don't miss a visit to Senate Square, and appreciate the extensive heritage of The Esplanadi Park.

Vienna, Austria to Helsinki is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Eastern European Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Vienna in July, things will get a bit cooler in Helsinki: highs are around 25°C and lows about 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Wed) so you can fly to Rovaniemi.

Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Get out of town with these interesting Rovaniemi side-trips: Pyha-Luosto National Park (in Pyhatunturi) and Ranua Zoo (in Ranua). There's lots more to do: make a trip to Santa Claus Village, see Santa Claus Office, admire the sheer force of Auttikongas, and get engrossed in the history at Arktikum.

Getting from Helsinki to Rovaniemi by flight takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. In July, plan for daily highs up to 22°C, and evening lows to 13°C. On the 25th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
