Kajaani is a town and municipality in Finland. Get out of town with these interesting Kajaani side-trips: Sotkamo (Hiukka & Kainuun Vaellustalli) and Vuokatti (Vuokatti Safaris & Angry Birds Activity Park Vuokatti). There's still lots to do: step into the grandiose world of Kajaani Castle ruins, pause for some serene contemplation at Kajaani Church, and get great views at Vuokatinvaara.

Suomussalmi

Suomussalmi is a municipality in Finland and is located in the Kainuu region. Spend the 6th (Wed) exploring nature at Hossa National Park. There's lots more to do: make a trip to The Silent People, tour the pleasant surroundings at Martinselkonen Wilds Centre, learn about all things military at Winter War Museum Raatteen Portti, and get outside with Hossan Lomakeskus.

Kuhmo is a town and a municipality in Finland and is located at the south-eastern corner of the Kainuu region. Change things up with a short trip to Hiidenportti National Park in Sotkamo (about 1h 5 min away). It doesn't end there: stroll through Boreal Wildlife Centre.
