Finland's third largest city, Tampere boasts an array of cultural offerings and a lively music scene.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Tue): see the interesting displays at Tampere City Library, Metso, examine the collection at The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Finlayson Church, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Vanha Kirkko, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Alexander Nevsky and St. Nicholas. Zurich, Switzerland to Tampere is an approximately 8-hour combination of flight and train. You can also drive; or do a combination of car, train, and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Zurich to Tampere. Traveling from Zurich in August, things will get a bit cooler in Tampere: highs are around 23°C and lows about 11°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Mikkeli.

Mikkeli

Mikkeli is a town and municipality in Finland. On the 20th (Thu), head outdoors with Lietvesi Scenic Road, then don't miss a visit to Viewing Platform in Puumala, then snap pictures at Puumalansalmen silta ja nakoalahissi, and finally steep yourself in history at The Astuvansalmi rock paintings.
