Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and The National Museum of Finland. Do some cultural sightseeing at Cathedral of Porvoo and Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo). Change things up with these side-trips from Helsinki: Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo) and Porvoo Old Town (in Porvoo). Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Thu): take an in-depth tour of Kollaa- Ja Simo Hayha -Museo, pause for some serene contemplation at Rautjarven kirkko, thenkick back and relax at Lempukka Beach, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Imatra Waterfall.
