Daughter of the Baltic

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Bring the kids along to Temppeliaukio Church and Helsinki Cathedral. Change things up with a short trip to Nuuksio National Park in Espoo (about 48 minutes away). Pack the 13th (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. There's much more to do: brush up on your military savvy at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, take an in-depth tour of Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum, make a trip to Senate Square, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kamppi Chapel of Silence.

Milan, Italy to Helsinki is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Eastern European Standard Time (EET), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Milan in August, things will get a bit cooler in Helsinki: highs are around 24°C and lows about 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sat) so you can drive to Turku.

Turku

Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Family-friendly places like Turku Castle and Naantali Old Town will thrill your kids. Venture out of the city with trips to Rauma (Old Rauma, The Church of the Holy Cross, &more).
