Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Linnanmaki Amusement Park and Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum. Attractions like Bellevue Beach and SEA LIFE Helsinki make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Helsinki side-trips: Porvoo (Cathedral of Porvoo & Porvoo Old Town), Pike's Gut (in Hanko) and Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre (in Vantaa). Spend the 5th (Sat) exploring nature at Teijo national park. There's much more to do: test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, brush up on your military savvy at Fortress of Suomenlinna, pause for some photo ops at Sibelius Monument, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Helsinki Cathedral.
