Daughter of the Baltic

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Helsinki Cathedral. Museum-lovers will appreciate Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and The National Museum of Finland. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Helsinki: Sipoonkorven Kansallispuisto (in Vantaa), Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo) and Porvoo (Porvoo Old Town & Castle Hill). Pack the 4th (Thu) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Temppeliaukio Church, admire the masterpieces at Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, pause for some serene contemplation at Kallio Church, and head off the coast to Pihlajasaari Recreational Park.
