Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Explore Saariselka's surroundings by going to Inari (Juutua Nature Trail, Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, &more). Spend the 5th (Thu) exploring nature at Urho Kekkonen National Park. The adventure continues: identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, hit the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort, and pause for some serene contemplation at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
When in Rovaniemi, make a side trip to see Ranua Zoo in Ranua, approximately Ranua away. There's much more to do: get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, pause for some serene contemplation at Rovaniemi Church, find something for the whole family at Moomin Snowcastle, and Head underground at Syvasenvaara Fell.
