An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.Get out of town with these interesting Rovaniemi side-trips: Amethyst Mine Lapland (in Luosto) and Ranua Zoo (in Ranua). There's still lots to do: find something for the whole family at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, stop by LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier, see Santa Claus Office, and get engrossed in the history at Arktikum.

Keep things going the next day: hit the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort, pause for some serene contemplation at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel, and then get in on the family fun at Angry Birds Activity Park.
