Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Tue): admire the landmark architecture of Temppeliaukio Church and then brush up on your military savvy at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna.

Inari

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Step out of Inari with an excursion to Urho Kekkonen National Park in Saariselka--about 1h 45 min away. The adventure continues: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, wander the wide-open spaces of Reindeer Farm Petri Mattus, get your bearings at The Sami Cultural Centre Sajos, and experience rural life at Tuula's Reindeer.

You can fly from Helsinki to Inari in 3 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Helsinki in January, expect Inari to be a bit cooler, temps between -11°C and -20°C. An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
