Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
On the 9th (Sat), take in the spiritual surroundings of Church of St. Nicholas, then kick back and relax at Lempukka Beach, then enjoy the sand and surf at Lammassaari Island, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Imatra Waterfall. Keep things going the next day: get outside with Atreenalin Seikkailupuistot, then contemplate the waterfront views at Saimaa Canal, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Joutsenon kirkko, and finally head off the coast to Malonsaari.
