On the shores of the country's largest lake system, Lappeenrata serves as the economic and cultural center of southeast Finland.

Step out of Helsinki to go to Espoo and see Nuuksio National Park, which is approximately 48 minutes away. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna.
