An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like German Soldier s Cemetery and Rovaniemi Church. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at LAURI and Syvasenvaara Fell. Kick off your visit on the 30th (Sat): glide through natural beauty at Levi Ski Resort. Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. On the 2nd (Mon), get your bearings at The Sami Cultural Centre Sajos, see the interesting displays at Siida, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church. Here are some ideas for day two: go for a walk through Otsamo Fell and then pause for some serene contemplation at Saint Tryphon Pechenga Orthodox Church.
