Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Get a sense of the local culture at Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Sea Fortress Suomenlinna. Get some historical perspective at Rock Church and Helsinki Cathedral. Take a break from Helsinki with a short trip to Nuuksio National Park in Espoo, about 46 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the world behind art at Kansallisgalleria, take a stroll through Katajanokka, take in the spiritual surroundings of Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), and tour the pleasant surroundings at The Esplanadi Park.

Seattle, USA to Helsinki is an approximately 15-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and ferry. Start off your visit on the 12th (Fri): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Turku Cathedral, then step into the grandiose world of Turku Castle, then don't miss a visit to Archangel Michael's church, and finally take a stroll through Naantali Old Town. On your second day here, let the kids burn off some steam at Adventure Park, examine the collection at Luostarinmaki Handicrafts Museum, then do sightseeing your way with Ett Hem Museum, and finally head off the coast to Vepsa Island.
