Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step out of Rovaniemi with an excursion to Ranua Zoo in Ranua--about 1 hour away. Next up on the itinerary: get in on the family fun at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, look for gifts at LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier, see Santa Claus Office, and hit the slopes at Ounasvaaran Hiihtokeskus Oy.

Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Saariselka: Inari (Reindeer Farm Petri Mattus, Inari Reindeer Farm, &more). There's still lots to do: fly down the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort, stop by Hippupuoti Gift Shop, find something for the whole family at Angry Birds Activity Park, and pause for some serene contemplation at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Go for a jaunt from Levi to Kittila to see Lapland Hotels SnowVillage about 46 minutes away. Spend the 28th (Mon) on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort.
