Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Wed): admire the sheer force of Imatra Waterfall, tour the pleasant surroundings at Lempukka Beach, get to know the resident critters at Korpikeidas, pause for some serene contemplation at Joutsenon kirkko, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at De tre korsens kyrka, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rautjarven kirkko.
