Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step off the beaten path and head to Angry Birds Park and Marttiini Store Old Factory. Step out of Rovaniemi with an excursion to Pyha-Luosto National Park in Pyhatunturi--about 1h 35 min away. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Santa's House of Snowmobiles, Head underground at Syvasenvaara Fell, take an in-depth tour of Rovaniemi Local History Museum, and stroll the grounds of German Soldier s Cemetery.

Inari

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Step off the beaten path and head to Reindeer Farm Petri Mattus and Hippupuoti Gift Shop. Change things up with a short trip to Gold Prospector Museum in Tankavaara (about 1h 25 min away). There's much more to do: experience rural life at Tuula's Reindeer, pause for some serene contemplation at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel, take in the spiritual surroundings of Saint Tryphon Pechenga Orthodox Church, and see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center.

Drive from Rovaniemi to Inari in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or take a bus. Traveling from Rovaniemi in December, plan for little chillier nights in Inari, with lows around 6°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Tue) early enough to drive to Levi.

Levi

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Ounaskievari Reindeer Farm and Giewont Husky Adventures. Explore Levi's surroundings by going to Sarestoniemi Museum (in Kaukonen), Keimioniemi Fishing Cabins (in Muonio) and Church of Sodankyla (in Sodankyla). And it doesn't end there: take an in-depth tour of Samiland, take a stroll through Ounasjoki - River for activities, and stop by Akaslompolo Sportshop.
