Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
When in Helsinki, make a side trip to see Nuuksio National Park in Espoo, approximately Espoo away. There's lots more to do: learn about all things military at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kamppi Chapel of Silence, admire the striking features of Helsinki Central Railway Station, and pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral.

Budapest, Hungary to Helsinki is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Budapest to Helsinki. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Budapest in September, with highs in Helsinki at 19°C and lows at 8°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Wed) so you can travel to Koli National Park.

Vaasa is a city on the west coast of Finland. Kick off your visit on the 14th (Mon): take in the dramatic natural features at Kvarken Archipelago World Heritage Site. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: go for a walk through Saltkaret, take in the views from Raippaluodon Silta, then pause for some serene contemplation at Mustasaaren kirkko, then examine the collection at Pohjanmaan Museo - Osterbottens Museum, and finally kick your exploration up a notch at Zip Adventure Park.
