Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Family-friendly places like Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali) will thrill your kids. Step out of Helsinki to go to Espoo and see Nuuksio National Park, which is approximately 48 minutes away. Finland's third largest city, Tampere boasts an array of cultural offerings and a lively music scene.
Bring the kids along to Sarkanniemi Theme Park and Riihiniemen Uimaranta. Get out of town with these interesting Tampere side-trips: Viihdeuimala Vesihelmi (in Forssa) and Ahvenisto (in Hameenlinna). Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Kids will enjoy Levi Ski Resort and Kids' Land. Take a break from Levi with a short trip to Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park in Muonio, about 58 minutes away. The adventure continues: have some family-friendly fun at G2 ICEKARTING, look for all kinds of wild species at Santa"s Cottage & Pet Farm, bet on your favorite at Icekarting Levi, and fly down the slopes at Yllas Ski Resort.

Getting from Tampere to Levi by flight takes about 5 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and bus; or drive. An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Wed): see Santa Claus Office, don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village, and then get in on the family fun at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus. Keep things going the next day: look for gifts at LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier, Head underground at Syvasenvaara Fell, then get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, and finally engage your brain at Pilke Science Centre.
