Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and The National Museum of Finland. Change things up with these side-trips from Helsinki: Sapokka Water Garden (in Kotka), Porvoo (Cathedral of Porvoo, Porvoo Old Town, &more) and Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo). Next up on the itinerary: hunt for treasures at Hakaniemi Market, steep yourself in history at Mannerheim Museum, admire the masterpieces at Kansallisgalleria, and make a trip to SkyWheel Helsinki.

Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Mon): see the interesting displays at Lappeenranta Fortress, don't miss a visit to Sandcastle Lappeenranta, then explore the activities along Saimaa Canal, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Lemin kirkko. On the next day, take in the architecture and atmosphere at De tre korsens kyrka, then pause for some serene contemplation at Rautjarven kirkko, then kick back and relax at Lempukka Beach, and finally admire the sheer force of Imatra Waterfall.

Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
On the 4th (Wed), fly down the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort and then hit the slopes at Urho Kekkonen National Park. On the 5th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: tour the pleasant surroundings at Pyha-Nattanen Fell and then trek along Ruijanpolku Trail.
