Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
For shopping fun, head to Old Market Hall or Artisaani. Step out of Helsinki to go to Espoo and see Nuuksio National Park, which is approximately 46 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: buy something for everyone on your list at Kamppi Shopping Centre, take in the exciting artwork at ARTag Gallery, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Helsinki Cathedral, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Rock Church.

Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Fri): take in the exciting artwork at Photographic Centre Peri, then step into the grandiose world of Turku Castle, and then browse the different shops at Kauppakeskus Mylly. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 9th (Sat): view the masterpieces at Galleria Joella, buy something for everyone on your list at Turun Kauppahalli, then view the masterpieces at Gallery A, then enjoy the sand and surf at Ispoinen Beach and Sauna, and finally browse the different shops at Kauppakeskus Skanssi.

You can do a combination of train and flight from Tampere to Saariselka in 5.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train, flight, and bus; or drive. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Tampere in January: high temperatures in Saariselka hover around -11°C and lows are around -20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Tue) early enough to travel to Levi.

On the 13th (Wed), ski along the peaceful trails at Levi Ski Resort. An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
