Daughter of the Baltic

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Bring the kids along to Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Temppeliaukio Church. Get a sense of the local culture at Helsinki Cathedral and Kamppi Chapel of Silence. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Helsinki: Bellevue Beach (in Hanko), Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo) and Teijo National Park (in Pernio). Spend the 4th (Mon) exploring nature at Sipoonkorven Kansallispuisto. Pack the 5th (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), identify plant and animal life at Arboretum Mustila, kick back and relax at Hietaranta Beach, and stop by Ullanlinna.

Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Santa Claus Village. On the 7th (Thu), revel in the low prices at Marttiini Store Old Factory, see exotic creatures in open habitats at a safari tour, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally make a trip to Santa Claus Village. On your second day here, get in on the family fun at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church.

Traveling by flight from Helsinki to Rovaniemi takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Helsinki in February: high temperatures in Rovaniemi hover around -6°C and lows are around -11°C.
