Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Imatra Veteran’s Home Museum and Infantry Museum. Do some cultural sightseeing at Bunker Museum and Karelian Farmhouse Open Air Museum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Imatra: Taipalsaaren kirkko (in Taipalsaari), Ruotsinpyhtaa (Stromforsin ruukki & Church of Ruotsinpyhtaa) and The Astuvansalmi rock paintings (in Ristiina). Next up on the itinerary: kick back and relax at Lempukka Beach, examine the collection at Salpa Line Museum, get outside with Atreenalin Seikkailupuistot, and take in the dramatic scenery at Imatra Waterfall.

Expect a daytime high around 22°C in June, and nighttime lows around 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
