Mariehamn is the capital of Åland, an autonomous territory under Finnish sovereignty. Step off the beaten path and head to Kastelholm Castle and Kobba Klintar. Step out of Mariehamn to go to Eckero and see Aland Hunting & Fishing Museum, which is approximately 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: brush up on your military savvy at Aland Maritime Museum, examine the collection at Museumship Pommern, stroll around Lilla holmen, and take in the waterfront at The Maritime Quarter.
