Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Explore hidden gems such as Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Mannerheim Museum. Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Kallio Church are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore Helsinki's surroundings by going to Turku (Turku Castle, Turku Cathedral, &more). The adventure continues: admire the landmark architecture of Temppeliaukio Church, pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral, examine the collection at Design Museum, and take an in-depth tour of The National Museum of Finland.

Stockholm, Sweden to Helsinki is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also do a combination of ferry and train; or do a combination of ferry and bus. Traveling from Stockholm to Helsinki, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. June in Helsinki sees daily highs of 21°C and lows of 11°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Mikkeli.

Popular historic sites such as Olavinlinna Castle and Pikkukirkko are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Mikkeli side-trips: Sandcastle Lappeenranta (in Lappeenranta), Savonlinna (Savonlinna Herostatue - The Hero's Grave & Savonlinna Cathedral) and Woikosken Automuseo (in Mantyharju). Maritime Centre Vellamo and St. Nicholas Orthodox Church are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Museum-lovers will appreciate Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge Museum and Museum of Aviation. Explore Kotka's surroundings by going to Arboretum Mustila (in Elimaki), Marian Kirkko (in Hamina) and Hiidenvuori (in Iitti).
