Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Appreciate the collections at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Kansallisgalleria. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma. There's still lots to do: admire the striking features of Temppeliaukio Church, wander the streets of Ullanlinna, take in the spiritual surroundings of Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), and get a new perspective on nature at Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo).

Imatra

Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
On the 15th (Sun), take in the architecture and atmosphere at Joutsenon kirkko, explore the activities along Saimaa Canal, admire the striking features of Lappeen Marian kirkko, then pause for some serene contemplation at Lappeenrannan kirkko, and finally step into the grandiose world of Sandcastle Lappeenranta. On the next day, take in the dramatic scenery at Imatra Waterfall, step off the mainland to explore Lammassaari Island, and then step off the mainland to explore Malonsaari.

You can drive from Helsinki to Imatra in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In July in Imatra, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 14°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Mon) to allow time to drive to Savonlinna.

Kuusamo is a town and municipality in Finland. On the 18th (Wed), see the interesting displays at Hannu Hautala Nature Photography Centre and then relax in the rural setting at Palosaari Reindeer and Fishing Farm. Keep things going the next day: explore the activities along Kiutakongas Rapids, then stroll through Pieni Karhunkierros Trail, and then stop by Shopping Center Kumpare.

Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Step off the beaten path and head to Turku Castle and Teijo National Park. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Turku Cathedral and Luostarinmaen Kasityolaismuseo.
