Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Wed): pause for some serene contemplation at Lemin kirkko, step into the grandiose world of Sandcastle Lappeenranta, then see the interesting displays at Lappeenranta Fortress, then explore the activities along Saimaa Canal, and finally get a sense of history and politics at Lappeenrannan raatihuone. Keep things going the next day: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rautjarven kirkko, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at De tre korsens kyrka, then enjoy the sand and surf at Lempukka Beach, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Imatra Waterfall.

On the 4th (Fri), stroll through Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort and then hit the slopes at Urho Kekkonen National Park. On the 5th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: hike along Ruijanpolku Trail and then hike along Pyha-Nattanen Fell.
