Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Step off the beaten path and head to Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Hakaniemi Market. Change things up with these side-trips from Helsinki: Porvoo (Cathedral of Porvoo & Porvoo Old Town). Pack the 11th (Sun) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. There's lots more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Temppeliaukio Church, examine the collection at Mannerheim Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), and step into the grandiose world of Sea Fortress Suomenlinna.
