Daughter of the Baltic
Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.For shopping fun, head to Hakaniemi Market or Stockmann Department Store. Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Helsinki side-trips: Fagervik Museum (in Inkoo), Pernio (Teijo National Park & Ruukin kehräämö ja puoti Oy) and Hanko (Bellevue Beach & Tulliniemi Nature Path). Spend the 3rd (Mon) exploring nature at Ekenas Archipelago National Park. Spend the 6th (Thu) exploring nature at Valkmusa National Park. There's lots more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Temppeliaukio Church, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), kick back and relax at Lehman, and identify plant and animal life at Arboretum Mustila.
