Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Popular historic sites such as Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali) are in your itinerary. Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Mannerheim Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Change things up with these side-trips from Helsinki: Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo), Sipoonkorven Kansallispuisto (in Vantaa) and Bellevue Beach (in Hanko). An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Explore hidden gems such as Safaris and Santa's House of Snowmobiles. Appreciate the collections at Arktikum and Christmas House Santa. Venture out of the city with trips to Kemi Church (in Kemi) and The Provincial Museum Of Tornio Valley (in Tornio). Start off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): see the interesting displays at The Sarestoniemi Museum.
