Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Take a break from Rovaniemi with a short trip to Kemi SnowCastle in Kemi, about 1h 40 min away. Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Take a break from Levi with a short trip to Lapland Hotels SnowVillage in Kittila, about 46 minutes away. Spend the 10th (Fri) on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort. Getting from Rovaniemi to Levi by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. March in Levi sees daily highs of 31°F and lows of 16°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Mon) early enough to drive to Saariselka.

Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Change things up with these side-trips from Saariselka: Inari (Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church, Reindeer Farm Petri Mattus, &more). Spend the 16th (Thu) exploring nature at Urho Kekkonen National Park.
