Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step out of Rovaniemi with an excursion to Korouoma Canyon in Posio--about 1h 40 min away. And it doesn't end there: take an in-depth tour of Arktikum, don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church, and explore the world behind art at Korundi House of Culture.

Dusseldorf, Germany to Rovaniemi is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Dusseldorf to Rovaniemi, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Dusseldorf in October, you will find days in Rovaniemi are much colder (3°C), and nights are slightly colder (-1°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Luosto.

Luosto

Nestled among vast forests and fells, Luosto represents a small idyllic resort village set on the edge of Pyha-Luosto National Park.
On the 6th (Thu), take in the awesome beauty at Luosto and then go deep underground at Amethyst Mine Lapland. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: do some two-wheel cruising with Luosto Adventures and then take in breathtaking views at Isokuru.

You can drive from Rovaniemi to Luosto in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In October, plan for daily highs up to 3°C, and evening lows to -2°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Inari.

Inari

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Take a break from Inari with a short trip to Urho Kekkonen National Park in Saariselka, about 1h 45 min away. There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, get outside with Lake Inari, get advice or help at The Sami Cultural Centre Sajos, and pause for some serene contemplation at Saint Tryphon Pechenga Orthodox Church.

Levi

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Venture out of the city with trips to Muonio (Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park, Keimiotunturi Fell, &more). Spend the 13th (Thu) on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort. The adventure continues: relax and rejuvenate at KuruYoga Levi.

You can drive from Inari to Levi in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus. October in Levi sees daily highs of 3°C and lows of -3°C at night. On the 15th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
