An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Santa's House of Snowmobiles and Rovaniemi Local History Museum. Your inner history buff will appreciate German Soldier s Cemetery and Rovaniemi Church. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Rovaniemi: Kemi (Icebreaker Sampo & Kemi Church). There's still lots to do: explore the fascinating underground world of Syvasenvaara Fell, don't miss a visit to Lordi's Square, catch a live event at Lappi Areena, and enjoy some diversion at Santa Claus Office.

Inari

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Museum-lovers will get to explore Gold Prospector Museum and Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center. Explore hidden gems such as Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church and The Sami Cultural Centre Sajos. Change things up with a short trip to Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort in Saariselka (about 1h 5 min away). There's more to do: go for a walk through Otsamo Fell.

Drive from Salla to Inari in 5 hours. In January in Inari, expect temperatures between 15°F during the day and 1°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Sat) early enough to travel to Levi.

Levi

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Sun): look for all kinds of wild species at Santa"s Cottage & Pet Farm, make a trip to LUVATTUMAA - Levi Ice Gallery, and then hit the slopes at Kids' Land. Here are some ideas for day two: join the crowd at Icekarting Levi, then stop by Elan Ski Shop & Rental, then make a trip to Lapland Hotels SnowVillage, and finally don't miss a visit to Giewont Husky Adventures.
