Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Get a sense of the local culture at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Helsinki Cathedral. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Mannerheim Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Helsinki side-trips: Heureka (in Vantaa), Kotka (Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge Museum & Maritime Centre Vellamo) and Porvoo (Cathedral of Porvoo, Castle Hill, &more). There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Temppeliaukio Church, take in the spiritual surroundings of Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), get a new perspective on nature at Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo), and admire the striking features of Johannes Church.

Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Turku Castle and Old Rauma. Discover out-of-the-way places like Turku Cathedral and Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova. Go for a jaunt from Turku to Poytya to see Kurjenrahka National Park about 46 minutes away.
