Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Mannerheim Museum and Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum. You'll explore and learn at Maritime Centre Vellamo and Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo). Venture out of the city with trips to Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge Museum (in Kotka), Heureka (in Vantaa) and Porvoo (Cathedral of Porvoo, Castle Hill, & more). Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Visit Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova and Old Rauma for their historical value. Explore hidden gems such as Forum Marinum Maritime Centre and Luostarinmaen Kasityolaismuseo. Change things up with a short trip to Kurjenrahka National Park in Poytya (about 46 minutes away). Next up on the itinerary: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Turku Cathedral, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Archangel Michael's church, get lost in a book at Turku City Library, and explore the historical opulence of Turku Castle.
