Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Hakaniemi Market. Go for a jaunt from Helsinki to Porvoo to see Porvoo Old Town about 50 minutes away. Pack the 5th (Sun) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Wed): tour the pleasant surroundings at Malonsaari, step off the mainland to explore Lammassaari Island, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Imatra Waterfall. On the 9th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Joutsenon kirkko and then explore the activities along Saimaa Canal.
