On the shores of the country's largest lake system, Lappeenrata serves as the economic and cultural center of southeast Finland.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Saimaa Canal and Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God. Hämeenlinna is a city and municipality of about inhabitants in the heart of the historical province of Häme in the south of Finland. Get in touch with nature at Torronsuo National Park and Evo Hiking Area. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Hame Castle and Birthplace of Jean Sibelius. Take a break from Hameenlinna with a short trip to Church of Hollola in Hollola, about 54 minutes away.
