Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Take a break from the city and head to Urho Kekkonen National Park and Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort. Popular historic sites such as Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church and Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel are in your itinerary. Go for a jaunt from Saariselka to Inari to see Lake Inari about 1h 25 min away. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Auttikongas and Rovaniemi Local History Museum. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like German Soldier s Cemetery and Rovaniemi Church.
