Helsinki
— 17 nights

Daughter of the Baltic
Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights. For shopping fun, head to Hakaniemi Market or Galleria Lapinlahti. Family-friendly places like Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Kansallisgalleria will thrill your kids. Venture out of the city with trips to Vantaa (Sipoonkorven Kansallispuisto & Heureka), Porvoo (Nasin Kartanon Galleria, Cathedral of Porvoo, &more) and Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Katajanokka, learn more about the world around you at Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo), pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral, and browse the exhibits of Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum.
For other places to visit, reviews, more things to do, and tourist information, use the Helsinki driving holiday app.
Athens, Greece to Helsinki is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Prepare for much colder weather when traveling from Athens in August: high temperatures in Helsinki hover around 24°C and lows are around 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
