An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Sat): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church, take an in-depth tour of Arktikum, then look for gifts at LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier, and finally look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas. Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Take a break from the city and head to Levi Ski Resort and Santa"s Cottage & Pet Farm. Change things up with these side-trips from Levi: Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park (in Muonio) and Safaris (in Akaslompolo). Next up on the itinerary: look for gifts at Elan Ski Shop & Rental.

Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Step out of the city life by going to Nature & Wildlife Tours and Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort. Step out of Saariselka with an excursion to Pyha-Nattanen Fell in Sodankyla--about 46 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: hit the slopes at Urho Kekkonen National Park, get in on the family fun at Angry Birds Activity Park, examine the collection at Gold Prospector Museum, and trek along Ruijanpolku Trail.
